DUTIES
An Assistant Street Lighting Electrician assists a Street Lighting Electrician in the construction, repair and maintenance of high and low voltage electrolier street lighting systems.

REQUIREMENT
Two years of full-time paid experience working with street lighting electrical circuitry.

NOTES:

1. Candidates who lack six months or less of the above experience may file for this examination. However, they cannot be appointed until the full experience requirement is met.

2. A valid California driver’s license is required. Applicants will be disqualified and not eligible for hire if within the past 36 months they were convicted of a major moving violation, such as driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and may be disqualified if there are three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents within the past 36 months.

3. A valid California Class B driver’s license must be acquired before completion of the six-month probationary period.

DUTIES: An Elevator Mechanic Helper assists journey-level elevator mechanics by doing semiskilled electrical and mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of passenger and freight elevators, escalators, and their appurtenant equipment.

REQUIREMENTS
1. One year of full-time paid experience in the installation, maintenance, repair or modernization of elevatgors, escalators, or moving walks; or
2. Successful completion of 12 semester or 18 quarter units from a recognized college, university, or trade school in industrial electronics or industrial electricity (applicants must list their school name and location, course titles, number of semester or quarter units, and completion dates in the education section on their application).
NOTE
Industrial electricity and electronics refer to the electrical and electronic components used in the control of large AC and DC motors and drives such as those used in elevator and escalator equipment, and NOT in items such as televisons, radios, or computers.
