Qualified Candidate Requirements
You must meet one of the following four scenarios:
1. You have received a notice of termination/lay-off or have been terminated/laid-off from employment as a result of any permanent closure or substantial lay-off from a plant, facility or enterprise.
OR
2. You have (1) received notice of -or- been terminated/laid-off from employment and (2) are eligible for or have exhausted entitlement to Unemployment Insurance (UI) and (3) are unlikely to return to previous industry or occupation.
OR
3. You have been previously self-employed and are currently unemployed as a result of economic conditions in the community where you reside or due to natural disaster.
OR
4. You are a “Displaced Homemaker” who has been (1) providing unpaid services to family members in the home and (2) was dependent on the income of another family member but are no longer supported by that income and (3) are unemployed or underemployed and experiencing difficulty obtaining or upgrading employment.

You are:
• a U. S. born citizen; or
• a Naturalized citizen; or
•authorized by Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS) as eligible to accept employment in the U. S.

If you are male and born on or after January 01, 1960, (01/01/1960), you must
• be registered with Selective Service OR
• have an honorable discharge from the U. S. Military OR
• be able to prove, through documentation, his “EXEMPT” status as defined in In the Military Selective Service Act.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC I - $3,635 - $4,592 / Month

THE JOB: Under direction, perform repair and modification work on diesel and gas powered construction equipment, heavy and light trucks, and automobiles; and perform other duties as required.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic I Requirements: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying, unless otherwise specified. A typical way to obtain these would be:

Sprinkler Fitters Apprenticeship Opening

When: Applications will be available at the Sprinkler Fitters Training Center every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month between the hours of 12 Noon to 5:00pm ONLY

Requirements: At the time of application, applicants must bring proof of completion of high school (diploma or transcript). A certificate of proficiency, GED or equivalent will be accepted. Applications must be filled out at the Training Center.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must show proof of age at time of application. Driver’s license, picture ID, passport, etc. will be accepted.

A valid driver’s license is required at time of indenture and dispatch to employer.

Applicants must be physically fit to do the work of the trade, and will be required to work anywhere within the nine (9) Bay Area counties.

Electrician Apprenticeship (Inside Wiring) Opening, San Francisco

Applications will be available every Thursday in July, 2007 between the hours of 1:00pm and 3:30pm. Only individuals present on these days and times, will all required documents, will be allowed to apply.

Hourly Wage: Rate as provided in the collective bargaining agreement (presently $19.20 per hour) will change in June 2007.

About the Trade: Apprentice shall be under the supervision of a Journeyman Electrician at all times. The trade requires physical effort on the part of the Apprentice to do climbing, crawling, crouching and working in cramped quarters. Wiring is frequently coded in color for connecting purposes; therefore the worker cannot be colorblind. Mechanical ability and finger dexterity is essential. Depending on the job, the work may be performed either indoors or outdoors.

Age: Applicant must be at least 17 years of age on the date of filing an application, and 18 or older to be indentured.

Application Requirements: Application must be filled out IN PERSON at the address below. Applications may not be taken off the premises (NO EXCEPTIONS). Applicants must provide Photo Identification, such as a driver’s license, DMV Identification Card, or Passport and items 1 and 2 (see Minimum Requirements) at the time of application.

Minimum Requirements
1. Must be a high school graduate with a diploma or the equivalent, at the time of application. Proof of diploma or its equivalent must be present in ENGLISH*. In lieu of a high school diploma or its equivalent, show proof of a two-year Associate Degree or higher.
2. Provide evidence of successful completion of: one full year (2 semesters) of high school algebra with a passing grade, or one post high school algebra course (e.g. Adult Ed, Community College, etc.) with a passing grade, or provide evidence of having passed the NJATC Tech Math course. To qualify, transcripts in English* must be provided at the time of application, or by mail and received at the address above on or before the date of application.
3. Military Veterans may submit a DD-214 form to verify military training and/or experience if they are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training and experience. Applicants with an approved “MOS” will be scheduled for an oral interview.
4. Must have a valid California Driver’s License at time of indenture.
5. Must attend classes as required by the San Francisco Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee.
6. Must abide by the standards adopted by the San Francisco Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee.

*Non-English diplomas and /or transcripts must be translated and notarized with the embossed notary seal.

Examination: All applicants who meet the above qualifications will be required to take a written exam. Qualified applicants will be notified of the exact date, time and place to report for the examination. Those who qualify will be given an oral interview. Applicants selected for indenture will be subject to comprehensive drug testing before job placement.
