UA Local 342 Apprenticeship for Refrigeration / Air Conditioning Mechanic Opening

When: First Monday of Every Month from 9AM to 11AM and 1:30PM to 3:30PM

Length of Apprenticeship: 5 years full-time on-the-job training in addition two evenings per week, three hours each evening in related training instruction classes.

Areas of Employment: Alameda & Contra Costa Counties

Minimum Requirements:

18 years of age

Proof of High School Diploma or GED is required when making application.

A valid CA. Drivers License or Birth Certificate is required for identification & proof of age when making application.

All applicants must attend related classroom instruction two evenings weekly.

Eligibility:

Qualified applicants will receive a Letter of Acceptance from the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) indicating eligibility for entry into the program & authorization to seek employment on her or his own initiative.

When an applicant finds employment, she / he will obtain the signature of the employer on the Letter of Acceptance & return it to the JATC office.

After determining that the employer is approved to train apprentices & is within the ratio of apprentices authorized, the applicant will be referred to the Local Joint Hiring Hall for dispatch & must begin attending related instruction classes.

Upon acceptance into this program, a valid CA. Drivers License will be required by employers.

Requirements:
*Bring high school diploma, official transcript or GED.
*18 years old bring proof of age: Dr. License, picture I.D. or Passport
*Be physically fit to do the work of the trade
*Drivers license at time of indenture & dispatch
*Able to work anywhere within the 9 Bay Area Counties
*Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Written Test: NOVEMBER 18,2006

Oral Interview: Only applicants who have passed the written with a minimum of 70% will be eligible for the oral interview.

Eligibility List: Applicants will be placed on the apprentice program eligibility list based on their written examination & oral interview.

Hourly Wage: Starting Wage: $16.37 per hour plus the fringe benefit package.
