THE CHIRLA (COALITION FOR HUMANE IMMIGRANT RIGHTS OF LOS ANGELES HAS A JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
CHIRLA has an opening for a Development Assistant . This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that CHIRLA's organizational financial goals are met. Duties for this position include assisting in the submission of grant proposals and reports; managing CHIRLA's donor and other external communications; and coordinating fund raising events.
SALARY RANGE: $28,000-$30,000
REPORTS TO: Director of Development
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grant Portfolio Management:
* Prepare supporting documentation for grant submissions
* Compile and submit grant reports to finders
* Keep calendar and tracking system for all grant-related activities
* Assist Director of Finance in preparing financial reports and other information
Fundraising:
* Play a lead role in planning and implementing CHIRLA's large annual fundraising gala, as well as educational, cultural, and grassroots fundraisers, houseparties and other events
* Assist in large donor campaign efforts and ongoing donor relations.
* Develop and disseminate updated materials for donors/funders/members on CHIRLA programs, initiatives, and accomplishments
* Manage grants and donor database and tracking systems
* Update website
* Monitor E-advocacy software and contacts
* Monitor electronic donation system
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
* Minimum 2 years experience with grant writing, fundraising and/or events
* Bachelors degree or 4+ years nonprofit Development experience
* Superior professional manner and networking abilities
* Comfortable and experienced in fast-paced environment and meeting multiple deadlines
* Extremely well organized and systems oriented
* Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
* Strong familiarity with or training in database management
* Preferred: experience with website and e-advocacy/e-fundraising management
* Strong commitment to immigrant rights and social justice
