Cargill Salt in Newark, Ca. is accepting applications for an experienced Framing Carpenter in our Solar Department. THis is a teamster position.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, but are not limited to:
Carpenter projects such as building and repairing buildings (complete from foundation, framing, roofing to interior finishing), flood gates, fences, decking, ramps, platforms, building and installing cabinetry and some interior remodeling, as well as some cement work
Projects include planning, ordering material and completion of work in a timely manner.
REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated ability to follow directions (written and spoken)
Demonstrated ability to read and write English
Demonstrated positive attitude toward/interest in safety and safe work rules
Excellent work history
Must be able to work outdoors and in inclement weather
Must be able to work any shift, any day and some overtime
Evidence of acceptable driving record
Be physically able to perform job duties including bending, stooping, shoveling, sweeping, climbing stairs and ladders, wrenching, hammering, lifting, extended driving/riding/maneuvering of mobile equipment
Physical ability and stamina to lift up to 50 pounds
SKILLS
Operate and maintain power and hand tools, able to plan and construct small buildings, including foundation, framing, roofing, drywall and other interior finishing.
Be able to lay and repair cement and tile; build and install carpentry
Read and understand drawings and blueprints
Develop plans (including ordering material) to repair and maintain wood structures, interior and exterior. Carry out and complete plans in a timely manner.
1 plus years framing carpenter experience.
ASSETS
Experience working in and around water
Demonstrated self initiative, ownership and drive
Demonstrated ability to be positive team player
Demonstrated ability to communicate and listen well
