Dear Oakland Community Member:
The City of Oakland needs volunteers to help select future Fire Fighters. We are in the process of selecting individuals to fill the position of Firefighter Trainee with the Oakland Fire Department (OFD). Community participation as members of the interview panel, along with members of the OFD Executive Staff and Officers, has been an effective way to ensure that the oral examination process is fair and consistent.
All we need is your commitment of time! Thorough Interview training, a light
breakfast, lunch and parking will be provided for panelists each day.
We need volunteers to participate in mandatory training on March 3rd and to conduct interviews from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day on the dates listed below:
Monday, March 3, 2008 (Assessor Orientation & Training 8:00AM -12:00PM) Monday, March 3, 2008 (Interviews begin at 1:00PM)

Wednesday, March 5, 2008
Thursday, March 6, 2008
Friday, March 7,2008
Interested Oakland residents must be voting age and can participate a minimum of two full days from 8:00AM - 5:00PM, and unrelated by blood or marriage to any of the candidates.
While training is mandatory for all on March 3, 2008, you can identify interview dates based on your availability! Select anyone or more of the days listed above that you can volunteer and know that your time is valued and your contribution appreciated. (Note: City employees need to obtain permission from your supervisor to participate.)
This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the Oakland community and contribute to the future success of the Oakland Fire Department.
