STARTING WAGE: $16.40 Hr.

Five-year apprenticeship program. Apprentices work during the day (paid employment) and attend classes during day and evenings. A Journeyman certificate is awarded upon successful completion.

BOOK COSTS: Approximately $400for the first year
TOOL COSTS: Approximately $500

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:

Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.

Must have photo I.D. such as a drivers license or identification card issued by the D.M.V.

Must have a valid drivers license at time of indenture.

Must be able to perform the work of the trade

Must be a high school graduate or have a GED. In lieu of a high school diploma or GED may have a two year Associated Degree or higher.

Must have completed one full year (2 semesters) of High School Algebra or one semester of College Elementary Algebra with a minimum grade of “C” or equivalent or provide evidence of having successfully completed the NJATC Math Course. Pre-Algebra does not meet this requirement.

Applicant must provide official transcripts (in English) to meet the above requirements.
*** Non-English diplomas and/or transcripts must be translated and notarized with the embossed notary seal.

***All Required Documentation MUST Be Received At the Time of Application or Your Application will NOT Be Processed.

If accepted into the program, applicants will be required to take and pass a pre-employment drug test.

QUALIFYING EXAMINATIONS: All applicants who meet the above qualifications will be scheduled to take a written qualifying examination. Testing information available at time of application.

QUALIFYING INTERVIEW: Applicants who pass the qualifying exam will be scheduled for an oral interview by the Committee. The Committee members will ask standard questions that will help them determine the applicant’s ability to become an apprentice electrician. The names of interviewed applicants will be placed on the Eligibility List for Electrical Apprenticeship for two years per “Cal Plan” requirements.


You must apply in person, on your own behalf on January 24, 2007. California drivers license or other photo ID must be presented at time of application. Plus your H.S. Diploma or GED and Transcripts for proof of Algebra
