EBMUD Entry-Level Positions Available
The following entry-level, apprenticeship positions below (click on "Continue reading") are NOW open at East Bay Municipal Utility District. Get the details about how to apply and succeed at the March 16th Workshop at BACSIC -- see previous item, above.
Automotive Maintenance Worker I – performs a variety of duties in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of automobiles, light to heavy trucks, and similar vehicles in a central shop, at a remote job site, and/or from a lubrication service truck in the field.
Carpentry Worker I – performs a variety of sub-journey level general carpentry work in the repair, maintenance and alteration of wooden, steel, concrete, and related structures.
Electrical Worker I – performs a variety of sub-journey level maintenance, repair, and installation duties on electrical circuits, motors, controls, and equipment.
Heavy Equipment Maintenance Worker I – performs a variety of duties in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of various large trucks, heavy construction, and related field equipment in a central shop, at a remote job site, and/or from a lubrication service truck in the field.
Instrument Worker I – performs a variety of sub-journey level inspection, maintenance and repair of metering and recording instruments, controlling apparatus, data logging and display equipment, communications and telemetering systems.
Machining and Maintenance Worker I – performs a variety of mechanical maintenance and repair work on water treatment and distribution plant equipment in the shop and in field locations.
Plant Maintenance Worker I – performs a variety of mechanical maintenance and repair work on wastewater plant equipment; inspects and performs field preventive maintenance work on water treatment and distribution plant equipment.
Wastewater Plant Operator Trainee – performs a variety of routine cleaning, maintenance, and operational duties involved in the continuous operation of a large metropolitan wastewater treatment plant.
People selected for these classifications will enter into a 48-month trades training program. During this program, people are expected to learn knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to work in a specific trade. The training will include coursework, as well as on-the-job training. Satisfactory completion of the coursework and on-the-job training is mandatory. If at any time while in the program, a person does not perform adequately (fails coursework or cannot demonstrate proficiency of a required task), his/her employment will be terminated. If a person is successful in the program, he/she will be promoted to journey status.
